Fourteenth Post - Nov 5 to Nov 7B

Getting very close to today's date!

November 5th - At Sea - Again, warm and humid but pretty calm seas

Our first of 7 days at sea before we get to Hawaii.  Went to breakfast a little late, and ate too much.  As a result, I felt a little queasy and lightheaded, so we went back to the cabin.  Dan went to do the laundry while I relaxed in the cabin.  I watched, "Daddy Long Legs"  with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron.  Love this movie - sang along with all the great songs and wished I could dance like that.

Watched part of another movie - stupid shark move - have no idea of the name or who was in it, but it did put me to sleep.  Dan was gone almost 4 hours - laundry room very crowded, but finally it was all done.

We had pizza in the cabin and did a little paper work - organized all the information we have been collecting during the cruise.  Then we did a little shopping in the gift shops - bought a red and white striped sailor looking shirt.

Dinner in dining room was delicious, as usual, and the show was a production show called "What a Swell Party".  A lot of great show tunes, tap dancing and fabulous costumes.

After dinner we went to the Explorer Lounge to watch "Voice of the Seas" auditions, a take off of the TV show "The Voice".  Tavo was there again as emcee, which always makes things fun.  We stayed a while to dance, but the music was too loud and we didn't know any of the songs - so gave up and went to bed.

Danette and Lloyd (dinner mates) were at the bar and they told us the next day that they did stay to dance and have a few more drinks and were hung over and very tired!  I guess we are all getting too old for this night life.

November 6th, At Sea - a little cooler today, but very, very windy.

We were a little tired today - had breakfast after 9:30 am and were surprised to find the buffet very crowded at that time.  We are changing our clocks one hour forward, and losing an hour each day, to help ease us into the final time change. I guess that one hour catches up to us too.

Must have been really tired - never wrote in my journal and can't remember what we did all day!  I know we spoke to three people after lunch, a husband and wife and the wife's mother.  Wife mane is Cinderella - For Real!  Both she and husband worked for Delta Airlines - he was pilot, she flight attendant.  They all play trivia, so we had fun reviewing questions they had gotten wrong in the first round.

After another nice dinner, we went to the show - it was an act called - Kamikaze Pilots.  This was a married couple that did juggling, acrobatics and comedy.  Not that good, but not that bad either.  The end was a skit where they both blow up giant balloons and climb into them - it was the best part!

November 7A, At Sea - warm, sunny and windy again

Our third day at sea, but our first Weds. November 7th.  We will cross the International Date Line tonight, and have another Weds, Nov 7th tomorrow!

Had breakfast and wandered the ship afterward.  Met several people we have come to know, and talk for a while.  Then I went to the gift shop to see what they had on sale.  At a table near the door I stopped to look and commented on one item to a woman who was also looking.  She looked at me and said:  "I know you.  We were on the Star Ferry together with your husband."  I almost fell over.  We have been looking for this woman, Ann Murphy, ever since we lost the cell phone in Hong Kong```````.

I explained to her what happened, she took out her cell phone and there was the one picture I really wanted - Me and Dan in front of the Star Ferry sign.  She promised to e-mail it to me and we exchanged cabin numbers so we could reach each other again.  What a lucky day, meeting her like that.

Had lunch, back to cabin for nap and planned what we would do when we reached Honolulu.  The problem with this port is that it is a Sunday and Veteran's Day to boot.  We  have been warned to expect large crowds and long lines everywhere.

We had dinner and Dan went to the show, I went to bed - still not feeling 100%.  The show was a young woman who played the cello.  I expected a classical music night and opted out, but it turns out I missed a great show.  She takes playing the cello from classical to Rock and Roll in the first few minutes and has the audience rocking for the rest of the show.  The next day, everyone talked about how good she was - darn!

November 7B, At Sea - warm, sunny and windy again.  Sea a little rougher.

Our fourth day at sea, and our second Wednesday, Nov 7th.  This is weird!  Even though we have done this before when we toured the South Pacific, this one seemed strange.   2 Wednesdays and 2 Nov 7th!!!

Had a lot of fun today - after breakfast we went out to sit by the pool and watch the water slosh up and down and spill all over the deck.  It looked a lot rougher in the pool than on the ocean and people were rising and falling in the water with great abandon.  We sat and talked to Cinderella and her mother again, they were enjoying the sun and fun in the water also.  I really wish we had gotten our bathing suits on and joined in the fun in the water, but neither of us felt like going all the way to the cabin and back.

Had lunch  by the pool - cheeseburgers, hot dogs and fries.  It was a nice change from the buffet food.

Took another nap.  We had planned to start packing for our trip home, but gave up after cleaning up all the paperwork we have accumulated.

We were alone at dinner - Danette and Lloyd went to a specialty restaurant tonight.  It seemed very busy in the dining room.  Our waiters, Freddy from Peru, and Michael were always rushing around.  Don't know what was going on, but it seemed different somehow.  The ship has been running out of lettuce and bananas the last few days, so when the Matre'D stopped to talk we asked about it.  He said it was a combination of circumstances..  This is the first time Princess has sent a ship on this particular routing and the first time the Coral Princess was ever in this part of the world.  The vendors changed supplies at the last minute, the Chinese suppliers did not deliver what was expected, etc. etc.  We missed several ports due to weather and that changed supply schedules too.  It sounded like a lot of B.S. to me - this company has several other ships stationed in the Asia market and should know what to expect, but if that is his story he should stick to it.  Anyway - we expect lots of Lettuce and Bananas in Hawaii.

The show tonight was EXCELLENT.  It was an Elton John Tribute by a man named Jeffery Edwards - he had us singing along, and by the end of the show half the audience were dancing in the aisles.  The standing ovation went on so long, with many yelling "More, More",  that he came out and did an encore.  The first time that has happened on this cruise.  Even the Cruise Director, Miranda was taken by surprise.   FABULOUS.

When we returned to the cabin, we found an envelope from Ann Murphy with 2 copies of our picture at the Star Ferry and a post card from Hong Kong with a nice note.  There are many wonderful and thoughtful people on this ship, and she is one of the best.
