Thirteenth Post - Nov 1st to Nov 4th

Lots of catching up to do, so here goes!

November 1st, -  At Sea - This one is HOT, windy and Humid

We spent the morning, after breakfast, wandering the ship.  I did attend a lecture on "How to Write a Memoir".  Did get some very helpful ideas.  For example:  Most people who write personal family histories, use laundry lists - my mother was born on----, I was born on---, etc.  Using some of our 5 senses makes it more interesting - it's all in the details:  My mother was born on a clear, hot July morning in 1898.  There was a clean, fresh smell in the air after an overnight rainstorm - etc. etc.  I found it very interesting.

The rest of the day was a usual Day at Sea:  Nap after lunch, basketball, delicious dinner with a show afterward.  Dan went to this one alone - it was a Guitar playing Comedian  - by all accounts - Awful!

November 2nd, Hot and Humid again, Very Rough Seas

Got a late start - clocks are being set one hour forward each night , so instead of 8 am breakfast it was 9 am.

Went back to cabin to get a jump start on packing some of our 9 suitcases.  Packed heavy clothes that we will no longer need - sweaters, jackets, heavy shirts and slacks.   It took more than 2 hours, but we did make room in the closet!  Progress

Tonight is formal night - Dan in full black tux, me in my light blue beaded dress (10 years old!) - still get compliments on my old stuff!  The show was an older woman singer, who was very good.  Dan went to have coffee with the late crowd in the Buffet, I went to bed!

November 3rd, At Sea - sunny and warm with lots of white caps - Tough sea!

Again put clocks ahead one hour, so breakfast was after 9 am.  I updated my journal, went to Internet cafe to update the blog and check e-mails.  I ran out of my free Internet minutes, so I spent a million dollars to buy unlimited time for the rest of cruise.  At least now I won;t have to worry about how long I take on-line.

Received an e mail from Gary and Kathy that instead of bringing our van and leaving it at the airport, they would just pick us up on the 18th.  I reminded them that we don't arrive until almost midnight, but they are still willing to do it.  What nice friends we have!  :-)  I'll send them flight numbers since I have no cell phone, and no telephone numbers with which to call them.

Watched 2 movies this afternoon - "A Wrinkle in Time". an Oprah movie, and one about Albert Einstein,  Have also seen 9 to 5 and Breakfast at Tiffany, this week.

Dinner menu was all Yucky to me, so I had a cheeseburger.

Went to Karaoke show after dinner; our friend Tavo was emcee and he teased me about our plans to find a Walmart on Guam tomorrow.  Another FUN night.  Have I mentioned how we dance each night???  No?, well we do!

November 4th - GUAM, Sunny and Hot.

Guam is much smaller than I thought it would be, and much, much prettier.  The island is spotlessly clean, no litter and the people are extremely friendly and helpful.  We were greeted on the pier by Miss Universe 2018, who was Miss Guam.  The current Miss Guam was also there and they presented each passenger with shell necklaces.  What a nice surprise that was.

Another nice treat was that we were able to call Courtney on my tablet and we were both excited to finally get to talk.  Her news was not all good - Katie had a fender-bender with her new car.  She hit a parked car and broke the tail light.  And someone  hit a baseball through the back window of Pete's car, shattering it.  Other than that, everyone is fine at home.

We had to wait 45 minutes in a very long line to get through immigration to leave the ship.  A woman tried to cut the line, by acting confused about where to go.  I was more than  happy to walk up to her and point out the end of the line she was supposed to be on.  People around me thanked me for speaking up - I wondered why they didn't.  I just explained that I was a Jersey Girl - we don't pump gas and we don't don't take crap!  They liked that explanation! ha ha

We drove through this pretty Island and stopped at an outlet center (No Walmart on Guam, we were told!).  We had a $9.00 dish of ice cream (Yikes) bought Dan a new Hawaiian shirt and a few more trinkets, and headed back to the ship for lunch and a NAP.

Dinner was good surf and turf and the show was a very funny comedian.
